What the Ride Is Like
The SCLS track winds through Wilson Park, offering a surprisingly scenic ride considering its urban location. You'll ride astride miniature railcars pulled by detailed scale-model locomotives. Some engines are electric, while others run on real steam—complete with the sounds and smells of a working train.
The club members are friendly and love talking about their trains. Kids often get to see the engines up close and learn how they work. The relaxed atmosphere means kids can ride multiple times if lines aren't too long.
Tickets, Donations & Group Options
All rides are free! The club operates entirely on donations, which support track maintenance, locomotive upkeep, and the volunteer-run station. Please consider donating—even a few dollars helps keep this community treasure running.
Group Visits & Birthday Parties
Contact the club in advance for large group visits or special occasions. They're accommodating and love hosting train-themed birthday parties!
Best Age Range
This experience works well for kids ages 2 to 10. Toddlers love the ride and the excitement of "real" trains, while older kids appreciate the engineering and often ask questions about how the steam engines work. Very young children should ride on a parent's lap. The straddling position works best for kids who can sit independently.
Stroller & Accessibility Details
Wilson Park has paved pathways and the station area is accessible. Strollers can be parked near the boarding platform. The miniature cars require straddling, which may not work for all mobility needs—contact the club if you have specific questions. The park has restrooms and picnic facilities nearby.
